homework between classes including a variety of content to read, videos to watch, and podcasts episodes to listen to
YOU WILL LEARN ABOUT:
- the home funeral/community deathcare movement as a direct response to the funeral industrial complex and the professionalization of deathcare
- the potential benefits of home funerals, and ways to communicate about said benefits within your community
- things to consider when planning a home funeral including logistics, as well as ways to elevate the experience by incorporating ritual and ceremony
- ways of caring for a body after death, including considerations for special circumstances like sudden death, autopsies, and organ and tissue donation
- legality - a broad overview of state laws, legal cases, and navigating barriers to access in order to exercise your rights
