Woods Winfree
Scholarship Coordinator
Woods began walking towards this work even before she knew conscious dying as a concept, a path, a vision. She was changed reading an essay that boldly stated that until we honestly transform our fear of death, we can't transmute the dis-ease of the whole.
As a Lifecycle Celebrant she specialized in end-of-life ceremonies and taught the Funerals & Memorials classes for five years at the Celebrant Foundation & Institute. She then self-navigated the legal and sacred practices of home funerals in order to bring her mother-in-law home to be surrounded by family.
She began her training at the Collective's founding organization, the Conscious Dying Institute within weeks of learning of its existence around 2018, and has worked for the Instituted and now the Collective ever since. Currently Woods is the Collective's Scholarship Coordinator and co-hosts its monthly Grace & Grief Vigils.
